Comfi.com is the most popular phonecard website in the world according to our most recent rankings.
Comfi.com is a calling card reseller that markets prepaid phonecards for several 3rd party telecom carriers, including ACC, ECC, IDT, and NTC. As with most calling card resellers, these carriers are relatively unknown 2nd and 3rd tier providers, but they do offer steeply discounted prices compared to regular brand name carriers.
In additional to calling cards, Comfi offers a number of related products, including conference calling, web-activated calling (a kind of VoIP services), PC-to-phone calling (another type of VoIP service), and mobile prepaid plans for selected mobile carriers.
Among other things, we love their calling card comparison tool. This lets you compare the rates and fees of up to 3 different calling cards side-by-side. The card with the lowest rate for each destination is highlighted in green. The highest rate is shown in red. It is just outstanding - and can instantly tell you which card to buy. Every vendor should have something like this, but we are not aware of any other tool like it.
But please note that many Comfi cards carry extra fees and surcharges. You need to add these fees on top of the advertised per minute rates to estimate the true price per minute.
Bottom line: Comfi.com gets our 'Best Buy' rating and is one of the most reliable companies in the industry. Their cards are a bit 'dirty', but still they consistently offer among the lowest rates anywhere.

Comfi.com Ratings
Key Factors |
Rating |
Comments |
Competitive rates |
 |
Comfi cards generally have low rates for all the routes we've sampled - even after adding in the extra fees and surcharges that many of their card carry. |
Rate & fee disclosure |
 |
Comfi does an excellent job disclosing all applicable fees in a rate table for each card. Note that many Comfi cards have extra fees, so keep an eye out. By allowing you to easily compare rates across cards, Comfi's card comparison tool adds an extra level of disclosure that few other companies can match. |
'Clean' pricing |
 |
Comfi card pricing varies significantly. Some of their cards are very clean with few extra fees - like the 'Cardinal' card. Some are loaded with fees - like the 'Cheap Call' card. As a general rule, we don't really like cards with extra fees because they often fool customers into thinking they are getting a good deal when they aren't. But Comfi cards are low enough that even after the added fees, prices are still pretty decent. Still, as you compare cards, try to do a little math to add these fees onto the advertised rate to get your true per minute rate. |
Card selection |
 |
Comfi.com carries a large number of cards, including cards with access numbers in most any country worldwide. |
Reputable carriers |
 |
Comfi's carriers are prominently identified and their phone numbers are provided in confirmation email. Honestly, we haven't been able to track down who all the carriers are that Comfi sells for, but the ones we are aware of are solid. |
Website usability |
 |
Very nice website. Well designed and easy to use. The calling card comparison tool is great!! Hugely helpful when shopping. |
Privacy and security |
 |
Comfi is part of the McAfee Secure program that monitors credit card fraud and website hacking. And they are a verified merchant in the Authorize.net network. |
Customer support |
 |
We had no problems reaching their customer service - wait times have been short and reps have been helpful. |
Access numbers work |
 |
The toll-free and local access numbers working for the cards we tried. |
Advanced features |
 |
Yes, but features vary depending on the card |
Reputation |
 |
We found largely positive reports on the web and they have a good BBB rating. We've received few, if any, complaints on this website. |
Return policies |
 |
Strong satisfaction guarantee that allows transfer of unused balances if there is a problem. Refunds may be offered on unused cards in some circumstances. |
Incentive programs |
 |
Offers both a referral incentive and discounts on larger purchases (the 'Savings Account' plan). |
